Dr Carpenter retired from General Practice in 2003 to concentrate on his hypnotherapy practice.

He qualified in medicine at Sheffield university in 1968. After some years working in hospitals and a spell as a flying doctor in Zambia, he settled into General Practice in Surrey. He is married with three sons.

In 1990 he became interested in hypnosis and discovered what a powerful tool it could be in promoting change. He discovered that hypnotherapy is a useful addition to his repertoire of traditional medical skills.

He now has considerable experience and is involved in teaching hypnosis to doctors and dentists.

He is an accredited member of British Society of Experimental and Clinical Hypnosis and a member of British Society of Medical and Dental Hypnosis (Metropolitan and South) Hypnosis section of the Royal Society of Medicine.
